Green Bootcamp on Business models and Green Economy: Upgrading Libyan entrepreneurs’ skills

SLEIDSE bootcamps are 5-day intensive training sessions giving young entrepreneurs a wide range of tools, methods, valuable inputs and technical skills to help them develop and grow their ideas and their business network. In this framework, the participants work, study and design their ideas together. During the event, experienced coaches, mentors and serial entrepreneurs  share their experiences and provide invaluable advice on how to run successful businesses.

The Green Bootcamp focusing on green business happened from the 23 to 27 April 2018 with a very busy programme. It started with an ice breaking session where attendees introduced themselves and the ideas they are developping. Bootcampers split into 4 working groups on business models, including Post Conflict Waste Demolition Recycling, Composting, Medical Hazardous Waste Processing, and Waste Paper Recycling.

As planned, the third day included key note speakers which comprised representatives of the Libyan Environmental General Authority, the Ministry of the Economy, and the Industry Union.  The speeches focused on the new regulations to fasten the modernization of Libyan economy; in particular in establishing a new company and operating with other companies.

The main objective of this Green Bootcamp was to help young participants grow their business ideas up to the next level, with enterprise creation as the ultimate goal of entrepreneurship education. As such, it genuinely fulfilled its goal as well as demonstrating that in Libya, young entrepreneurs are inventive and keen to develop their businesses. It also allowed them to link with the Libyan entrepreneurial community and enhance their entrepreneurs’ leadership.

The bootcamp was inter-active, flexible, and permitted individual attention to all bootcampers who discussed their dreams and aspirations, generated business models, and learned how to develop a global bird’s eye view of their business and its planning process.
